In 2015, I was studying accounting in a part-time training mode. The company was going to hire me as soon as I finished my studies. Beside that, I had my own apartment, a boyfriend. For me, my life was all mapped. Sadly, I was not a perfect student and I didn't think I would have my diploma that year. But guess what ?
One day, while I was enjoying the Disneyland Paris park with my friends, I received a text message "Congratulations! You did it" . I started to cry, not only of joy but also because I was lost. I didn't have any plans for the "after". Evetually, the company did not hire me and my boyfriend left me. In less than a month, my life had shifted.
Sometimes, bad moments in life are there to force us to question ourselves. I did.
As I always loved travelling, I was always the first one to bring back the money for school trips and I always offered crazy ideas to go somewhere with my friends. Then on the Internet, I typed "go study abroad", and click click. I came across the Au Pair program. Everything fit me : children, travelling and studying English.
It was my new project. The months after were devoted solely to it. I slept when the United States slept and I lived at night with my messaging.
So, the day I decided to ask a rematch in my first family, they said "You will go back to your country", there was one thing I could not do : give up and let them win.
I'm sharing my story because I would like you to remember why and how you've decided to become an au pair, especially when bad moments happen. Not everything is planned as we excepted. Do not give up.
I'm Mallaury, a proud EYA ambassador, there for you.
